Flooding in the Fox Valley.

The Fox Valley has a history of historic floods this time of year. If you have not lived here for years, you need only to google the Aurora, IL flood of 1996. See what we mean? There was 17 inches of rain in a 24-hour period! What would that do to your home if it happened now?

Ejector pumps as well as sump pumps only last for so long. Has yours reached the end of its shelf life? There are different options. You can have Scott Swanson evaluate your current situation to see if it will hold up during a catastrophic rain event. If it won’t, Bee Plumbing of Sandwich has a solution.

The Difference Between Sump Pumps and Ejector Pumps.

Is there a difference between sump pumps and ejector pumps? There are plenty of both in homes around The Southern Fox Valley in Illinois. You can be sure that Scott Swanson, the owner of Bee Plumbing, services and replaces BOTH sump pumps and ejector pumps.

A sump pump –

1. Collects water and stores it.

2. When it reaches its capacity a float switch activates.

3. It is then eliminated from your basement via a discharge pipe.

An ejector pump…is generally connected to your storm drain in order to deliver water away from the house. The lid on the ejector pump closes to protect your home from harmful chemicals.

Does your home in The Southern Fox Valley contain a sump pump or ejector pump? If so, and you suspect that they are not ready to handle the spring rains that are coming, then call Bee Plumbing and Scott will come out and troubleshoot it for you. Merely visit bee-plumbinginc.com and you will find the correct phone number to call.

What is the Difference Between an Ejector Pump and a Sump Pump?

The first example is fairly well known. A sump pump is useful for removing standing water from your basement or crawl spaces. An ejector pump allows you to remove waste water from the basement on its way to the septic tank or sewer. Scott at Bee Plumbing will help you with the installation or service of a sump pump or ejector pump.

Your Fox Valley home is always subject to flooding at any given moment. We have a beautiful river running through the heart of the valley and heavy rains can cause your basement to flood virtually without warning! Knowing the advantages of a sump pump and ejector pump may be essential in preserving those valuable items in your basement.

Scott is the owner and manager of Bee Plumbing, located in Sandwich IL. If either or both of your home’s sump pump or ejector pump is near the end of its life expectancy, please call Scott. What is the Difference Between an Ejector Pump and a Sump Pump?

We were just discussing this over dinner the other day…NOT! Just in case, you may have noticed that these two pumps look pretty much the same. The truth is, most of the time sump pump and ejector pumps are installed right next to each other. And yet you should not confuse the two because they do entirely very different jobs.

We hope that this is a simple explanation. A sump pump is useful for removing flood water from your basement or crawl spaces. Otherwise, it will just sit there in puddles until it finally evaporates. An ejector pump is also very important. Without one, you won’t be able to remove waste water from the basement to the septic tank or sewer.

And here we are…a company that services and replaces sump pumps and ejector pumps. We have been known throughout this century in the Fox Valley as Bee Plumbing. Why the word Bee? Well, ask us when you call the phone number listed on our website that best applies to your area in the central or southern Fox Valley. That address is bee-plumbinginc.com.

Understanding your Ejector Pump.

There may be several thousand more interesting topics, but a consistently functioning ejector pump is essential to maintaining a household.  Your sewage ejector is basically a big hole in the floor!  In said hole, you will find a special pump that will collect all of the waste from the plumbing fixtures in your home.

Here are some tips in keeping it clean –

1.  Throw things in the trash first.
2.  Make sure that the grinder pump is clean.
3.  Sniff around for odor.
4.  Make sure nothing is attached to the vent.
5.  Schedule yearly maintenance.

As to that last point, make sure that you have Scott or one of his crew from Bee Plumbing Inc. come to your home every year.  By having your ejector pump maintained each year you will not incur the big expenses of an emergency.  Visit the website beeplumbing-inc.com and you will find the phone number for the Western Suburban Chicago area in which you live.

Ejector Pumps and Sump Pumps.

So, what’s the difference?  The ejector pump handles the wastewater from your basement, including sewage from a basement bathroom. A sump pump has a simple drain pipe to expel the water to the outside, while an ejector pump is connected directly to your sewer or septic line and also has a vent pipe to manage the removal of sewer gases.

How long should an ejector pump last?  The usual life of this device is between 8 and 10 years.  You may get 10 years or more out of your sump pump, but you would be pushing it after a decade.  For instance, if you notice that the sump pump in your basement or crawlspace isn't kicking on when the water level rises it is time to take action.

The proper action to take in the far western suburbs of Chicagoland is to call Scott Swanson of Bee Plumbing.  Scott and his team have decades of experience repairing and replacing ejector pumps and sump pumps throughout our area.  Please don’t wait until you are knee-deep in water!  Visit bee-plumbinginc.com and call the phone number nearest you.
